Supporting the Collective
There are many important ways we, as Yogis, can serve Shri Mataji, by making ourselves available as good vehicles. A role as a State Councillor is one of those roles. As a State Councillor you have the opportunity to support your brothers and sisters in promoting Sahaja Yoga to the wider community and to help bring great ideas to fruition. You also have the opportunity to support new members of our Family to establish themselves in the Collective.
Have a question?
We are very happy to answer any queries regarding the role of State Councillors and/or the selection process so you can email us at [email protected] or [email protected] or talk to any of your State or National Councillors.
Selection criteria for State Council nominees
Nominees for the role of State Councillor should meet the following criteria:
- They recognise and accept the Divinity of HH Shri Mataji as our Divine Mother and Guru and as the source of our knowledge and inspiration for our individual and collective ascent.
- They are actively involved in the work of spreading Sahaja Yoga.
- They attend and actively support the weekly collective meditation programs and Pujas at the recognised main Centre in their area and support collective events at public venues.
- They understand and can practice the principles of asking the vibrations to guide the Council and Collective in all decision making and will work in harmony with the National Councillors, State Councillors, Australian Trustees and all Collective members.
- They actively contribute to the National Puja for their State (if there is one) and endeavour to attend other National Pujas.
- Their personal circumstances, which may include family and work responsibilities, age and personal health, are such that they are able to actively contribute to the workings of the Council.
- Only one family member is to be a Councillor as it is reasonably likely that having more than one in a family may impact upon the independence of those Yogis in fulfilling their Councillor roles.
- They are able to discuss on a regular basis Sahaja Yoga matters through face-to-face meetings of the State Council, and phone conferences of all Australian Councillors, sometimes at short notice.
- They have the ability to work constructively with others in a respectful and collective manner as a team for the benevolence and spiritual well being of the Collective and, as appropriate, their local community.
We encourage Yogis to introspect as to who within your Collective could fulfill this role successfully.
We ask for your enlightened attention and bandhans for the complete success of the Australian Council selection process for 2019.
Her Holiness Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
“Sitting down here I know everything about everyone. I may look very simple, it’s not so. That’s why I have to tell you that you don’t consider yourself to be endowed with some sort of a special power as a leader. Only that you have the power through your Mother which you have to assert. So, “Whatever I’m doing is the Mother Who is doing it.” And when you do that you’ll be amazed that whatever you want will be sensible, whatever you’ll ask for it will be sensible – sensible means which is related to Sahaja Yoga. And whatever you do will be sensible. All your dignity, everything will pile up together, but foremost thing and the most important: at any cost you must meditate.”
HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sankranti Puja, 14 January 1986, Rahuri, India
“The more compassionate you are, the more powerful Ekadesha becomes. The more collective you become, the more Ekadesha acts. Many people have a habit of receding back into their exclusion, and saying they – “Oh, we better be at home, and it’s all right.” But they don’t know what they’re missing. Whatever may be your experience with others, you should stick on together, always attend programs, take leadership, go ahead with it, work it out, and you’ll be blessed thousandfold.”
HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Ekadesha Rudra Puja, 16 September 1984, Italy
