NSW Celebration of the Nine nights of Navaratri – Starting 17th October

Dear Yogis,

Jai Shri Mataji!

By Shri Mataji’s grace, from October 17th we will be celebrating the Nine Nights of Navaratri in NSW culminating in a Puja at Balmoral on the 25th October at 1pm.

Burwood Ashram will be open for morning meditations from 6 am with a limit of 20 people in place.

Also, you are all encouraged to celebrate Navaratri at your homes and to  invite other yogis in your areas for pujas or a havan.

Please keep havans to a minimum so as not to overheat the right side.  This is also in line with the other states around Australia where the 9 Nights are celebrated mainly through pujas.

You can use the following as a guide to the Nine Nights:

1) PRATIPADA: Shri Ganesha is worshiped and it is observed as a day of silence.
2) DVITIYA: Devi Sooktam is recited and Goddess Mahakali is worshiped.
3) TRITIYA: The Kavach of the Devi is recited today.
4) CHATURTHI: The Kavach of the Devi is recited
5) PANCHAMI: The love of Shri Jagadambe is expressed by reciting the hymns of Argala. On this day we pray for the complete balance and sustenance of our self-realisation.
6) SHASHTI: We worship the Shakti.
7) SAPTAMI: Verses from Durga Saptashati are read
8) ASHTAMI: Shri Mahalakshmi is worshipped on this day.
9) NAVAMI: The asura is killed on this day.
10) VIJAYA DASHMI: Today is the day of Victory. We also celebrate the Dassera Festival, when Shri Rama destroyed the demon, Ravana.

Please also refer to this national email about Navaratri Puja online events in Australia and abroad over the nine nights.
