The Bhagavad Gita
With Krishna Puja being celebrated this weekend (2nd and 3rd August 2023), we offer this recording of The Bhagavad Gita which was originally recorded in 1993 by Tim Bruce of Theatre of Eternal Values in the UK.
This one hour abridged version with meditative violin music is based on Juan Mascaró’s translation of the The Bhagavad Gita that Shri Mataji highly recommended.
An audio cassette copy of the recording was offered to Shri Mataji and She very much enjoyed listening to it.
The recording has been recently reproduced for YouTube. An audio podcast version for various podcast platforms will be available soon.
We hope you enjoy the recording.
Jai Shri Mataji!
About The Bhagavad Gita
Part of the ancient Hindu epic The Mahabharata, The Bhagavad Gita is one of the enduring religious texts of the world.
The Bhagavad Gita is an early poem that recounts the conversation between Arjuna the warrior and his charioteer Shri Krishna, a manifestation of God.
In the moments before a great battle, Shri Krishna sets out the important lessons Arjuna must learn to understand his own role in the war he is about to fight.
Shri Krishna reveals to Arjuna His true cosmic form and counsels the warrior to act according to his sacred obligations.
Shri Mataji’s Sahaja Yoga meditation teaches us that Shri Krishna resides on the Vishuddhi chakra of our subtle system, in the throat area.
This centre has the qualities of detachment, collectivity, diplomacy and the witness state.
“The Bhagavad Gita says that you become the witness (Sakshi Swarup) of the play of the Divine.” – Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
