A New Era – Sacrifice, Freedom, Ascent

Dear Family,

Jai Shri Mataji!

On Saturday, 15th August, India celebrates its 80th Independence Day. Independence Day marks the occasion when India achieved political freedom and independence from British rule on 15 August 1947.

In 1985 in Bordi, India, our Divine Mother, HH Shri Mataji, reminded us that we have also received our spiritual freedom through Self Realisation. (See Her lecture below)

“I am immensely joyous to see you all here. I do not know what to say from my side. The words get lost, they have no meaning. So many of you are aspiring to ascend to that state where you would have complete joy, bliss and peace. This is what I could give you. And a mother is only happy when she can give whatever she has to her children. Her unhappiness, all her restlessness, everything is just to achieve that end – to gift all that she has.”

Significance of India’s Tricolour flag

The Three Colors of the flag represent:

Saffron (Top): Courage, strength, and the sacrifice of selfless leaders.
White (Middle): Peace, truth, and pure light guiding the nation.
Green (Bottom): Fertility, growth, and connection to the plant life and soil.

The Ashoka Chakra Symbol:

The Wheel: the Ashoka Chakra (wheel of law). It stands for truth, justice, and constant movement.
The 24 Spokes: Symbolizes the 24 hours, reminding citizens to work tirelessly for the progress of the nation also with 24 core human and civic qualities – such as love, courage, patience, peace, self-control, sacrifice, and truthfulness.
