Competing Pujas
Dear Family,
A message from the LETA Trustees on behalf of Sahaja Yoga Australia.
Jai Shri Mataji.
On 4th August 2025, the national Navararti Puja was announced to be hosted at Gidgegannup Ashram (near Perth) on the weekend of 26th – 29th September 2025. This Puja has been hosted by the Western Australian collective at this special venue for many many years.
Soon after, on 7th August, a separate WA group announced an alternate venue for a competing Navaratri Puja to be held in Albany on the same weekend.
We are sharing two communications to the WA collective from Frank Giannasi, one of the founding Yogis of Sahaja Yoga Western Australia, about his concerns regarding this conflicting situation.
Frank was the inspiration behind the purchase and installation of the Cabella hanger and one of the Yogis behind the inspiration of Gidgegannup. He has a wisdom, discrimination and spiritual depth derived from many long years contributing to projects directly working with HH Shri Mataji. Frank has achieved universal respect and status due to his exceptional achievements and is widely recognized and celebrated for his lifelong contributions to Sahaja Yoga.
Frank’s communications below uphold the sanctity of our collective unity and to not support division and the competing WA Pujas – which also applies to the ongoing hosting of competing Pujas around Australia that are dividing our collective.

A Plea for SanityDear Brothers and Sisters,
Most of you know me, but for those who don’t, I have been a Sahaja Yogi since 1984. Alongside Joe Reid, I helped organise, build, and establish Gidgegannup under the strict direction and Divine guidance of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi. Together, Joe and I have served as trustees of the Life Eternal Trust (Western Australia) since its inception on 27 August 1993.
Gidgegannup was Shri Mataji’s vision – a precious gift not only to the Perth collective but to the world. I still remember her words clearly when we were discussing the design. She said to me:
“It can be an international centre, so build four hangars with a central courtyard, in the shape of a swastika, and a little cottage so Sir C.P. and I can come and stay.”
Perth was a place of rest and relaxation for Shri Mataji. She found peace here. Most collectives around the world would kill for a place like this – a place filled with Her vibrations, Her vision, and Her love.
That said, if we as a collective decide to hold a puja in another venue, that is perfectly fine – not all pujas need to be held at Gidgegannup. But such decisions must be made collectively, with transparency and unity. They should not be driven by division, nor echo the disunity that has unfortunately gripped parts of the East Coast.
As practising Sahaja Yogis, we need to stand firmly on what our Mother has taught us – not become hypocrites who merely talk about love, peace, and awareness without living those values.
I write to you now with a sincere and urgent plea for sanity. Let us honour Her vision. Let us preserve what She gave us- not just the land and the buildings, but the spirit behind them. Let us move forward with collective wisdom, humility, and unwavering devotion to the truth She revealed to us.
With love and deep concern,
Signed: Frank Giannasi

Dear Andre, Danuta, Chris, Craig, Jo and Respected Members of the Western Australian Collective,
Jai Shri Mataji!
As an elder brother in this Collective, I write to you with great humility and deep concern regarding the recent decision to hold the upcoming National Navaratri Puja in Albany.
I fully support the idea of rotating pujas across different regions to support smaller and more remote collectives. It is a noble gesture that spreads the joy and blessings of our Mother’s love far and wide. However, I respectfully submit that Navaratri Puja is not the right occasion for this at this particular time – especially in light of the current global and Sahaja atmosphere, where forces of division and destruction seem to be intensifying.
Navaratri is not just a national puja – it is a deeply significant spiritual battle, one in which our attention must rise above personal preference or convenience. Our focus must be on how to best honor our Divine Mother, please our national and international guests, and support the collective growth that She envisions through love, unity, and respect.
Our Ashram in Gidgegannup stands as a sacred beacon – Her home in Western Australia – and provides the perfect spiritual foundation for such an important seminar. It is not only well-equipped, but also well-known and cherished by yogis around the world. Several international guests, including four yoginis from China, were informed and inspired by the idea of celebrating Navaratri at Gidgegannup. To now inform them of a last-minute change involving long additional travel may feel disheartening and unwelcoming.
As one of our sisters beautifully wrote:
“There are currently 4 Sahaja Yoginis coming from China for our Navaratri Seminar. They are very much looking forward to staying at the Gidgegannup Ashram for the Navaratri Seminar, which I conveyed to them at Shri Rama Puja in Bali this year – that our Ashram is absolutely beautiful and Navaratri is a real special time in Spring in Gidgegannup… I have not yet had the heart to deliver the shocking news to them.”
Dear brothers and sisters, this is not just about a venue – this is about how we reflect our values of collectivity, hospitality, and spiritual priority. The process by which the decision to hold Navaratri in Albany was made – as stated in your message:
“We discussed holding the National Navaratri Seminar in Albany after the havan last week and made an announcement about it again tonight after Collective meditation at the Palms”
– raises serious questions about inclusiveness and transparency. If we are truly committed to collectivity and growth, these discussions should involve the entire Perth Collective, especially for an event of such significance.
I therefore humbly propose that we urgently convene a full Perth Collective meeting, at a time suitable for the majority, to openly discuss this matter – not from a place of ego or division, but from a shared desire to uphold the Divine principles our Mother gave us. If the current direction is not reconsidered, we risk repeating the unfortunate patterns of division that have affected other parts of Australia.
This is a plea for unity, transparency, and wisdom. Let us come together with open hearts, leave our egos aside, and work in collective humility and respect – not just for ourselves, but for our guests, for each other, and most importantly, for our Mother’s vision.
I am happy to help coordinate this meeting. Please let me know the Saturdays that are not available, and I will find a time that accommodates as many as possible.
With love, sincerity, and deep concern for our collective future,
Signed: Frank
