When the Cool Breeze of the Kundalini Blew Through Sydney
There are moments in the life of a collective when the veil grows thin, and you can see more clearly what HH Shri Mataji came to do and what She still wants Her children to do. The four days of the Mind Body Spirit Festival in Sydney were one of those moments.

A Hall Full of Seekers
Every year the festival brings together thousands of people who are searching. Some come for healing, some for peace, and some just out of a feeling that there must be something more. They walk the aisles past crystals, readings and remedies, carrying the oldest question of all: Who am I?
In the midst of all that searching, Sahaja Yoga stand E46 offered something the seeker can’t buy and can’t earn: their own Self-Realisation, given freely, as HH Shri Mataji always insisted it must be. By the end of the four days, around 500 seekers had received their Self-Realisation.

Feeling their Kundalinis rising, Sahasraras opened, and felt the cool breeze of the Spirit on their palms and above their heads for the first time in their lives.
This is the miracle HH Shri Mataji made possible when She opened the Sahasrara on 5 May 1970: something that was once given only to a rare few, after lifetimes of effort, is now available to anyone with a sincere desire. We saw it happen again and again. A skeptical face softened, closed eyes went still, and then came the quiet wonder of “I can feel something… it’s cool.” That’s no small thing. It’s the beginning of their journey of Self-realisation.

Her Photograph in Their Hands
Thousands of handouts went out over the festival, each one carrying HH Shri Mataji’s photograph and details of local programs. For many people this was their first look at Her face which isn’t just a picture. It carries Her vibrations and so every seeker who took one home took home a way to keep meditating, a doorway that stays open. We can only imagine where those pictures have gone: onto fridges and bedside tables, into handbags and diaries, and into homes all over Sydney and beyond. HH Shri Mataji’s attention goes wherever Her photograph goes.

They Came Back
One of the most moving things about this year’s festival was how many people returned to the stand. Some came back the next day after their first experience. Others had first met Sahaja Yoga at previous festivals, and they came to tell us they were still meditating, or that something had changed in their lives, or simply that they wanted to feel the vibrations again. That’s the quiet evidence that this is real. Realisation isn’t a passing festival experience. It’s a seed, and in the right soil it grows. When a seeker comes back, it means the Kundalini has remembered Her way home.
Music of Joy
For four hours each day, Music of Joy filled the hall, bhajans and songs in praise of the Divine Mother spread through the festival, and people who had never heard of Sahaja Yoga found themselves stopping, smiling and dancing. Music has always been one of HH Shri Mataji’s great instruments. She encouraged it and showed us how real music, played with devotion, carries vibrations that work directly on the subtle system. Over those four days the music softened hearts, cleared the atmosphere and turned a busy exhibition hall into something very different. Many seekers walked up to the stand drawn there by the joy they could feel but couldn’t yet name.

Instruments of Her Love
Behind every one of those seekers who received their realisations there was a yogi with their attention on HH Shri Mataji, their hand raised above a seekers’ head, and complete trust in the param chaitanya. That’s the deepest lesson of the festival. We don’t give realisation.
We’re the instruments, and HH Shri Mataji’s power is flowing through us. It is the reason we became Sahaja Yogis: not only to receive, but to become channels of Her love at work in the world. When we forget ourselves and simply give, we find we’ve received the most.
Ask any yogi who stood at that stand, and they’ll tell you the same thing: they came home lighter, clearer and fuller of joy than when they arrived. The seekers were transformed, and so were we. The collective became one heart, and in that oneness HH Shri Mataji’s presence could be felt unmistakably.

With Gratitude
Our heartfelt thanks to every yogi who made the festival possible: everyone who set up and packed down, stood for long hours at the stand, gave realisation, handed out flyers, played and sang, and the collective’s attention from near and far.
Most of all, our gratitude and love at HH Shri Mataji’s Lotus Feet for all Her love. To the new souls who felt the breeze in Sydney: welcome home, your journey has only just begun.
Jai HH Shri Mataji!
